Discrete PLM: parts, materials and test data in one PLM

A seal performs because of its compound as much as its geometry. In most discrete PLM, the materials data, test results and quality events that decide whether a part works sit beside the CAD, in spreadsheets, a LIMS and a QMS.

A discrete product is its parts, the materials inside them, and the test data that qualifies them. Uncountable Discrete PLM keeps Creo CAD documents, materials and test results in one data model. Assemblies link to their parts and drawings, coolants, sealants, coatings and filter media sit on the same platform as the CAD, and specs feed QC acceptance criteria, so an out-of-spec result can flow into a CAPA and then an engineering change.

This solution brief is for engineering, product development and quality leaders at discrete manufacturers who need materials and test data on the same record as the part.

‍

Inside this solution brief:

  • Creo assemblies, parts and drawings with native files, previews and component quantities
  • Reviewing assemblies in a browser 3D viewer, without a Creo seat
  • Materials inside the part, on the same platform as the CAD
  • ECNs, CAPAs and quality incidents as configurable phase workflows
  • Test data, field-level audit trail and e-signatures
  • A worked example: an out-of-spec seal on a fuel filter, from QC result to Creo

FAQs

What does this brief cover?

How Uncountable Discrete PLM keeps Creo CAD documents, the materials inside each part and the test data that qualifies them in one data model, and how quality results connect to CAPAs and engineering changes.

How does Uncountable handle CAD documents?

Each CAD document holds its native Creo file, its type (assembly, part or drawing) and an optional preview file such as a GLB model. Assemblies link to their parts and drawings with a quantity for each component, and teams can review an assembly in the browser without a Creo seat. The desktop CAD agent downloads the assembly and its components and starts Creo.

Why manage materials in a discrete PLM?

A part performs because of its materials as much as its geometry. Uncountable manages the coolants, sealants, coatings, filter media and battery chemistries inside each part on the same platform as its CAD, rather than in spreadsheets beside it.

How do quality results connect to engineering change?

Specs feed QC acceptance criteria. An out-of-spec result can flow into a CAPA and then an ECN, run as phase workflows you configure without custom code, so the change, its reason and its test evidence stay linked with an audit log.

Does Uncountable Discrete PLM connect to other systems?

Yes. Uncountable connects through open REST APIs, a Python SDK and an MCP server.
