The problem: edits that change the live record
Engineers need to work on changes without disturbing the current version that others rely on.
If engineers edit the live record directly, colleagues can pick up half-finished changes. If they work in a copy, the copy drifts from the record and the link between versions is lost.
What this demo shows
- Create a draft revision without altering the current record.
- Promote the draft to the current version.
- Review earlier versions in the version history.
- Display all versions in the parts list.
Why it matters
Draft revisions let engineers prepare a change in full while production, purchasing and quality keep working from the current version. Promotion makes the switch in one step.
A complete version history means anyone can see what a part looked like at any point, which matters when a field issue needs to be traced back to the design in use at the time.

In the Uncountable PLM suite, every part keeps its own version history. The header shows each record's version and state. Create a draft to make a change. Version 1.0 stays current. Promote the draft and it becomes version 2.0. Version history keeps every earlier version. And one switch shows every version in the parts list.
Every change versioned. One PLM suite.
